What I Missed Last Week...

To catch you up on the happenings of last week and what to look forward to if for some reason my blog is where you get all your sports info...

- The NFL announces that New York/New Jersey will host the Super Bowl in 2014. The first cold weather championship game in about 40 years. Already we have odds on the game day temperature and media people deciding they won't go because it will be too cold.

- The Celtics move on to the NBA Championship to face the LA Lakers. A classic NBA rivalry renewed. Should be a decent series with the some great moments, if the referees can keep their influence out of it.

- Blue Jays fans, err..Phillies fans rejoice as Roy Halladay throws a perfect game. The first of his career, the 20th in Major League history and the second this month (Dallas Braden of Oakland had the other).

- The World Cup is approaching quickly and everyone who hates soccer will be watching for a month. Stay tuned for your World Cup primer and predictions.

- DeWayne Wade of the Miami Heat tells the Chicago Tribune that he will sit down with LeBron James and Joe Johnson before the three decide where they will sign as free agents during the off season. Chris Bosh's agent furiously dials the phone to ensure that his client is included in the FA summit. Whoops.

- NBA sidelines have become more interesting that the on court action this week. Between Craig Sager's suits, Phoenix coach Alvin Gentry puking into a garbage can during game 6 and Ron Artest's post-game interview where he told the aforementioned Sager to "say Queensbridge". The NBA where amazing happens..

- The Blue Jays set a club record for home runs in a month with 50 (and counting). The power surge has put the club in a virtual tie for the AL wild card. Don't want to get too ahead of ourselves, but if the young pitching can hold up and the bats that are hitting (Bautista and Buck) keep going and the bats that haven't (Lind, Overbay and Hill) start...well it could be an interesting July and August.
